Dear SDGCSA members,
I hope this message finds you and your loved ones happy, healthy and having a great start to 2018. As we all start to look forward to spring aerification and golf course conditioning, our recent wet weather sure is encouraging. Of course we certainly hope for more, followed by warm sunshine!
The beginning of 2018 for the SDGCSA board of directors has been a productive one, most recently taking a trip to Coto De Caza to meet with Hi-Lo & So Cal chapters for a Tri-Chapter board of directors retreat. The meeting proved to be a great opportunity for each chapter to discuss current events, chapter strategies and continued continuity between each chapter.
The board has also been working on replacing our current website after having multiple challenges with our current one. Amy has done extensive research on website replacement and management in order to help us decide the best direction. We also had participation from the board by researching other successful chapter websites and collaborating on what we liked best. Our goal is to have the website up and running in time for the election meeting at El Camino CC, where we will unveil it to the membership.
Since my last presidents message we’ve had some wonderful events and I’d like to take the opportunity to recognize some great hosts! In December 2017 Andrew Rees hosted the 20th annual Ray Spardy Memorial tournament at Sycuan Golf Club. Thank you to Andrew and his staff for your all their efforts! Also in December we had our annual Christmas party and brought the festivities back to Rancho Bernardo CC. Thank you Michael Ashworth and his food and beverage staff at Rancho Bernardo CC for providing a wonderful venue! Member Appreciation in January was held at Torrey Pines with the help of Richard McIntosh, Wayne Carpenter and Rob Browns. Who can get angry at lost balls in the rough with those spectacular views? Well done to all their staff for outstanding course conditioning!
It’s hard to believe my year of presidency is coming to an end. This term has really flown by and it’s been an honor leading this great association. The relationships built and doors opened along the way are priceless. Thank you all for the opportunity, as I look forward to serving you in the next term as your immediate past president.
