Presidents Message

By: Brian Darrock As our summer turf stress is coming to an end and the kids head back to school (unless you’re an empty nester like Angela and I), hopefully you can all plan to attend the upcoming meetings we have scheduled. We have our Fall education on Monday, September 30th at The Rancho Bernardo Inn followed by our trip over to beautiful Catalina Island on October 21st. Both will include some great education as well as great fun with golf...

President’s Message

As I write this, it is already the 20th of May, and the year seems like it is literally flying by! The weather is warming, and the grass is growing – fast! The busy times are upon us once again. A few weeks ago the new Board of Directors held its first meeting and I can tell you that we have an excellent group who are all very excited and dedicated to making our Association one for which you can be proud.  It is truly gratifying to be a part...

Presidents Message

As I finish my term as President of the San Diego GCSA, I am amazed how fast this past year has gone by. I know that as we get older each year goes by faster, but really? I would like to thank the board of directors for the support they gave me. I especially want to recognize all the past presidents that have had input and guidance. In addition, I’d like to thank Carey Sandland for her management of one of the best chapters in the country....

November’s Presidents Messsage

Most of the golf courses in the area are completed with the Fall turf management programs.  If it is aerification or overseeding, it all takes that added time and commitment.  I hope that everyone worked past the challenges and will see the rewards from their efforts. September provided an opportunity to thank your staff by taking them out to a ballgame.  This annual event has been a good way the association can help members support crew...

President’s Message

I am not going to talk about the weather, family and the normal summertime stories. I will give an abbreviated journal for the past month. It is some good stuff. Over the past month, San Diego GCSAA board members have worked to manage the revenues that are coming in from dues and affiliate sponsors. The board is committed to making sure that you as members get the greatest value out of the fees. Carey Sandland is doing an outstanding job in...

President’s Message June 2012

June 10, 2012 Some of the association members have known me for 20+ years and some a few short months. With this being said one thing about the past 20+ years is there isn’t much that has stayed the same. The great part about this is fantastic men and women that I have worked for and who have really helped me in so many ways. I thank all of you for your support. This will allow me to help lead the association this next year. There have...

President’s Message

The SDGCSA membership had an impressive showing at the GIS show last week in Las Vegas. It seemed like I ran into a different member every time I turned the corner. The education events were first class and the floor show had all the latest and greatest maintenance ideas. I thought this year’s California room at Las Vegas Country Club was one of the best I have seen in years. The venue was large enough to hold the 500+ attendees and the...

President’s Message

It was neat to see so many of our members come out and enjoy member appreciation at The Crosby last month. The facility, golf course and general setting were fantastic. Thank you to Chris Erickson for hosting the event. I would also like to thank our generous members who entered the raffle for a 40” LED TV the association purchased with reward points from our credit card. We were able to raise $1100 for our benevolent fund. ...

Presidents Message

We had a great turnout last week for our annual “Golf With a Hero” event at Marbella Country Club. I think everyone in attendance would agree that it was a neat event for a worthy cause. I had several of our military guests approach me after the event and say how much they appreciated everything the association did for them. We were able to have enough raffle prizes so that all military personnel were able to win something. Ed Mower...
