Golf Tax Update

Update from Bob Bouchier, Executive Director of the California Alliance for Golf:

As you have probably heard, lawmakers in Sacramento have finally reached an agreement on a budget deal. In good news for golfers, the golf tax IS NOT a part of this budget fix.

Thank you to the thousands of you who signed up for the coalition, wrote letters, made phone calls, participated in media activities and enthusiastically supported the efforts of the California Alliance for Golf (CAG) in the effort to stop the tax. continue

LA Mayor Proposes Water Hike

The LA Times reported that Los Angeles Major Antonio Villaraigosa on Monday called for increased citywide water restrictions and the adoption of a tiered water rate that would punish Department of Water and Power customers who fail to conserve.

What does this mean for the Southern California golf course industry:

  • The entire water supply may be cut 15 – 20%.
  • Higher rates kick in when customers exceed general usage.

Drought Contingency Plan
